Harper Week 3-4

What a whirlwind this month has been! January usually feels like it drags on forever, but this year, it seems to be flying by. Life has been busy, but overall, things are going well. Harper is adjusting beautifully to her diet and is becoming much more mindful about what she eats. She’s even getting better about not asking for foods she knows she can’t have, which is a big step for her!

This past week was a bit rough, as she came down with a bad cold and wasn’t as hungry as usual. Thankfully, she’s starting to feel better and is slowly getting back to her normal self. Despite feeling under the weather, she was still excited about a fun project in her class. They’re learning about moon phases and using Oreos to recreate the different shapes—which, of course, could have been a challenge given her dietary restrictions. Luckily, Oreo makes a gluten-free version (which I personally think tastes even better than the original!), so she was able to fully participate with her classmates. It’s always such a relief when she doesn’t have to feel left out of these little moments.

I’ve also been noticing more and more gluten-free options at the stores lately, which is such a welcome change. While we do our best to avoid eating too many highly processed foods, it’s comforting to know that there are more choices available for her when we need them. It makes navigating her dietary needs just a little bit easier, and for that, I’m grateful!

Over the next week or so, our goal is to get outside and be more active. The cold weather has kept us indoors more than we’d like, and we’re eager to change that. I always encourage the family to spend time outside barefoot on the grass for grounding—it’s a simple yet powerful practice. Most of the time, they’ll play tag barefoot or just walk around the yard to soak in the benefits. Of course, going barefoot depends on the weather, but grounding itself has incredible health benefits, including reducing stress and inflammation, improving sleep, and boosting immunity. We’re looking forward to making it a bigger part of our routine again!
